About Bharat Electronics Limited: Bharat Electronics Limited was established in the year 1954 and located in Bangalore, Karnataka. BEL is India's foremost Defence Electronics Company. BEL-Thanes Systems Limited is a joint venture company between Bharat Electronics Limited and Thales and the company is incorporated on 28th August 2014, located in the BEL Industrial Estate, Jalahalli, Bangalore.
As of September 2018, Bharat Electronics Limited is primarily owned by the central government, Mutual funds and UTI, foreign institutional investors, individual investors and insurance companies. The Central D&E division and Product & Innovation Centre at Bangalore develop common modules and sub-systems, while the D&E groups in the manufacturing plants do the product development. BEL reserves the sole right for empanelment and MoU/MoU could be entered into with an R&D institution/Company on a long term basis, specifying areas that could also be long term contracts with pre-agreed terms and conditions.
