About Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL): Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was established on 13th Nov 1964 and located in New Delhi, India. BHEL is an engineering and manufacturing company and owned by the Government of India. BHEL is one of the largest engineering and manufacturing companies of its kind in India engaged in the design, engineering, construction, testing, commissioning and servicing of a wide range of products and services with over 180 product offerings to meet the ever-growing needs of the core sectors of the economy.
Accordingly, a decision was taken by the Government to set up three more plants for the manufacture of heavy electrical equipment. The first one was at Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu) for high-pressure boilers, the second one at Hyderabad (Telangana) for steam turbo generators and high-pressure pumps and compressors - both of these with collaboration from Czechoslovakia and the third plant at Haridwar (Uttarakhand) with erstwhile USSR collaboration for large steam turbo generating sets and motors and also hydro generating sets including turbines and generators. These three newly conceived projects were part of Heavy Electricals (India) Limited for which the work initiated at Bhopal.
The government decided to create a separate corporation for setting-up and managing these three units. Thus Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was born. The merged entity, BHEL systematically upgraded its facilities to manufacture thermal generating sets of individual capacities and the organization began transforming itself from the production or operations management phase to the strategic planning and management phase. In addition, BHEL has also established five specialized institutes to pursue R&D in identified areas, they are WRI, STI, CET, PCRI and Amorphous Silicon Solar Cell Plant.
BHEL places a strong emphasis on innovation and creative advancement, which leads to the development of technologically competitive products and services. Currently, the company is the proud owner of more than 3900 IPR assets, which are in productive use in the company's business. The company has won several awards and recognitions for its outstanding work in this area, including the National IP Award, IPO International IP Award. BHEL has been ranked the Ninth 'Most Innovative Company in the World' by the renowned US business magazine 'FORBES'. BHEL is responsible for delivering superior results that make a difference in the lives of the people.
