About Gujarat Ayurved University: Gujarat Ayurved University was established in 1967 under and Act in the Assembly of State of Gujarat (Gujarat Ayurved University Act, 1965) and was located at Jamnagar in Gujarat, India. This University is administratively linked to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare both at State and Centre indicating its special status and it is exclusively devoted to Ayurvedic studies and research. The University was formed by merging three important institutes functioning in one campus at Jamnagar and later new institutes and departments were added to the University umbrella.
The university follows a systematic process in the design and development of the curriculum and the certificate, diploma, degree, postgraduate and doctoral programs are designed and developed by expert committees duly appointed by the university and approved by statutory bodies of the university. The university offers the programs developed by a regulatory body (CCIM): BAMS and M.D./M.S. and the further university designed and run unique courses: M.Pharm(Ayu), M.SC, BNYS, B.Pharm, D.Pharm, D.Nat.Yoga, Certificate course in Yoga & Naturopathy, PGDYN, Introductory course of Ayurveda for foreigners, Certificate course of Panchakarma technician etc.
Gujarat Ayurved University has all the professional value-added programs in the field of Ayurveda, Panchkarma, Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicinal Plants and Yoga & Naturopathy. The university follows an annual examination and/or professional examination system as per the directive regulatory body (CCIM). University has a well established and RFID managed library with a collection of more than 30,000 books on various subjects. The library is also has a huge collection of manuscripts in different languages that are being preserved through digitization. More than 35 different types of programs including Yoga and Naturopathy are being offered by the university and all are running in the campus successfully.
The University has sixty years of heritage and is the first Ayurveda University throughout the world and is established with well-set vision and objectives and is trying to enhance the positive impact on lives and community by providing needful services. After, 1998 many new academic developments have taken place in the University. Four self-finance institutions have been established which run the courses and training programme for Indian and foreign professionals. The university has an Independent Pharmacy that manufactures drugs following classical guidelines is the biggest strength of the University and a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for submitting research proposals and conducting industry-sponsored and intra-mural researches.
