About Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC): The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) was incorporated on 08th April 1971 and its headquarters is located in Himachal Pradesh. The HPPSC is a government agency and topmost constitutional body of Himachal Pradesh, responsible for conducting Civil Service Examinations and Competitive Examinations to select the eligible candidates for various civil services and departmental posts. It was originally established under the provisions of Act, 318 of Constitution of India which authorized the state government to form state public service commission.
HPPSC consists of various members and a chairman are appointed or removed by the state governor and also the term of service is set to a fixed period which starts from the date of appointment. The Commission has been entrusted with the responsibility of making recommendations to all class-III service/posts including such posts on contract basis under the HP Govt. Besides this, the commission has also to make recommendations to all such class-III posts of the state public sector Undertakings, Boards, Corporations, Universities and Local Bodies etc. as may be entrusted to the Board by such Boards / Corporations / Universities and Local Bodies etc.
The commission receives various requisitions of Clerk, Junior Office Assistant, Senior Scale Stenographer, Junior Scale Stenographer, Steno Typist, Computer Operator and Data Operator from different departments. The commission has been established with the purpose of recruiting capable competent, highly skilled individuals by conducting written tests, professional tests and personal interviews as per the requirement and suitability. The functions of the HPPSC is to conduct examinations for appointments to the services in its respective state, to make appointments to state civil services and to promote and transfer from one service to another and to check the suitability of candidates for such decisions.
The objective of the Commission is to prepare the youth population of the state for the emerging labour markets in India and across the world.
