About Nuclear Fuel Complex: Nuclear Fuel Complex was established in 1971 and its headquarters is located in Hyderabad, Telangana. Nuclear Fuel Complex is an Industrial Unit of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. NFC is the only organization in India which caters to the fuel requirements of a nuclear power reactor. NFC was created under the Chairmanship of Dr Vikram Sarabhai for setting up few production plants, common facilities and any other facility required at Hyderabad. Also, the objective of setting-up of NFC was to create an organization to meet the future requirements of fuel for the nuclear power program.
The complex symbolizes the strong emphasis on self-reliance in the Indian Nuclear Power Program. It has developed state-of-art facilities and process technologies with several innovations in the field of nuclear fuel production and fabrication. The organization plays a catalyst's role in nation-building. NFC's speciality lies in the manufacturing of nuclear fuel bundles for Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR), Boiling Water Reactors (BWR) and Fast breeder reactors, many reactor core components, various tubes, high purity special materials etc. An Independent Quality Assurance department ensures the quality at many intermediate stages and at the final stage to ensure compliance with the requirements of the customer.

The production of Zirconium sponge got a vital boost with the setting up of the Zirconium complex in the year 2009, at Pazhayakayal, Tamil Nadu.
