About Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL): Uranium Corporation of India Limited was established on 04th Oct 1967 and located in Singhbhum, Jharkhand. The company is a Pubic Sector Enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy with a special standing at the forefront of the Nuclear Power cycle. UCIL is an ISO 9001:2008, 14001:2004 & IS 18001:2007 company and has adopted modern technologies for its mines and process plants and is responsible for the mining and milling of uranium ore in India. The firm operates six underground mines in Bagjata, Jaduguda, Bhatin, Narwapahar, Turamdih and Mohuldih and one open-pit mine in Banduhurang in the state of Jharkhand.
The company has taken up the expansion of some of its operations in Jharkhand and started pre-project activities to set up new mines and plants in different parts of the country namely - Gogi in Karnataka, Lambapur in Telangana and KPM in Meghalaya. UCL is also operating one underground mine and process plants located at Jadugauda and Turamdih. UCL plays a very significant role in nuclear power generation of the country to fulfill the requirement of uranium for the Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors. The Company continued its efforts towards peripheral development of its surrounding villages and the vocational training program to local unemployed youths in collaboration with Jan Sikhshan Sanstha is being conducted regularly. The Talent Nurture Programme (TNP) of the company imparts free education to the children of the economically backward people of the surrounding villages.
